WHY OR WHEN DO YOU NEED TO
APPLY FOR A GRANT OF PROBATE?
- Financial institutions holding assets of an estate will not release such assets without a grant of probate.
- Government departments such as the Department of Transport or Titles office, will not transfer assets to a person without a grant of probate.
- A grant of probate may be necessary in the event that a will has been damaged or tampered with in order to confirm the validity of same before distribution of the estate.
